    Greetings, padawans. I'm here again with a sequel to our first post on the black BRZ fan shroud. This will be a quick one, I promise, but I wanted to update you all with the latest on this cool looking piece.

    Share with you, I must, some photos of the Mishimoto BRZ fan shroud in black. Jason the Engineer, a proud Toyobaru owner himself, was nice enough to loan us his vehicle so that we could install this shroud and bring his car to the better side of the force.Β  Once we got the tractor beam warmed up, we pulled the car into our R&D center to enshroud it in the color of the Sith.

    Love Is in the [Charge] Air - Secondary Radiator R&D, Part 2: Prototype Testing and Data

    Last time, we took a look at the unique design of the Ford 6.7 secondary Super Duty radiator and its accompanying thermostats. Our last post was only about two weeks ago, but I come bearing some good news - plus, great things come in twos.

    Why does my primary rad need a companion?

    As a recap, this heat exchanger, found in 2011+ Ford Super Duty trucks, works as an integral part of a mostly independent secondary cooling system that manages many of the truck's auxiliary cooling needs, including those of the liquid-to-liquid charge air cooler. Cooling these engine components more efficiently should not only prolong their useful lives, but also may make for some nice performance benefits if coupled with a tune - who doesn't love colder charge air?

    It Takes Two! - Secondary Radiator R&D, Part 1: Factory Review and 3D Models

    Whether we're talking about turbochargers on an F-150 EcoBoost, V8 engines in an offshore powerboat, drummers in the Allman Brothers Band, or pieces of Carvel™ Ice Cream Cake for dessert on my birthday, sometimes two is a better option than one. This was very much the school of thought that Ford's engineers adopted when designing the cooling system on the 2011+ F-Series Super Duty trucks, including the F-350, F-450, and F-550. These trucks feature two systems that work in parallel to handle all of the cooling needs in your truck, and both are equally important.

    Our engineers at Mishimoto also see the value in the "two can be better than one" mindset. When we bought our Mustang GT, we didn't stop there - we bought a turbo model, too. Many of you may know that we have already released a high-performance primary Ford 6.7 radiator, but I am excited to announce that we have been busy developing a Mishimoto Super Duty radiator for the secondary system as well.

    For as long as there have been stories, there have been heroes. Likewise, almost every hero has a sidekick (if he's lucky, at least).     As I sit here, isolated from the blistering humidity of a mid-Atlantic summer within the walls of our New Castle, DE office, I can't help but to appreciate the hell out of our A/C and the cooling - *ahem*, heat rejection (gotta keep the engineers happy) - that it provides. Just this past week, certain guests and goings-on have necessitated my spending quite a bit of time outside in the sweltering heat, and this drastic variance in climate really does have an effect on my ability to work well - just don't tell my supervisor!

    Anyway, such temperature deviations have a similar effect on the oil within the LT1 in your 2016+ Camaro SS. Oil that gets too hot will lose its viscosity, which is the very characteristic that makes it thick, slippery, and useful for lubrication inside an engine.     One of the best parts about a small, dynamic company like Mishimoto is that there is never a dull moment around our R&D facility. Change happens frequently, and no two days are the same.     I have been a big fan of Subaru vehicles for a substantial part of my life, and I have lots of experience with WRXs, but the BRZ (and FR-S) isΒ still very new to me. Not too long ago, one of our engineers had his 2013 Subaru BRZ out in the parking lot, and I asked him to pop the hood so that I might check out the power plant.     Greetings everyone! I hope you all enjoyed Cinco de Mayo last week. We celebrated here at the Mishimoto R&D Center with a salsa and dip competition - let me tell you, many of our team members have just as much talent in the kitchen as they do in the design center (and those of us who don't were grateful taste testers).

    Though our schedules have been VERY busy with projects, the beginning of show season, and maybe a few siestas here and there (definitely a necessity after all those corn chips!), our engineers have been able to squeeze in some time designing our improved aluminum 2016 Camaro SS radiator.
