Matt Waldin Comes Out on Top in Round 4 of DMCC

Mishimoto would like to congratulate sponsored driver Matt Waldin on his victorious weekend in Montmagny, Quebec at Round 4 of DriftMania Canadian Championship!

Lit by StreetGlow and set in front of a full crowd, DMCC Round 4's competition rounds took place after sunset, making this the first DMCC Night Drift event. After qualifying fourth, Waldin and his 350Z were up first against Mats Baribou and his Toyota Chaser. Baribou spun in his attempt to stay on Matt's lines and Matt rode Baribou's door, sealing the first round victory.

Matt's next round in the top eight would put him up against another Mishimoto sponsored driver, Carl Nadeau. Matt had a clean run as the lead, but after switching positions, the next run would prove to be a memorable one. Nadeau momentarily lost drift near the end of the track and hit the grass, which caused him to spin. Consequently, Matt, who was following closely, smashed into Carl at the finish line, causing severe damage to the body of the 350Z. Nonetheless, his spot in the top 4 was secured. Upon closer inspection before Matt's next round, the crew believed that the car endured solely body damage. Luckily, after a test run around the track, it was determined that the suspension components were indeed unaffected by the carnage.

Matt slid his way past Pat Cyr and his super fast Toyota Corolla to find himself in a final battle against yet another Mishimoto sponsored driver, Frederic "Steady Freddy" Girard. Girard was the 2008 DMCC Champion, so Matt knew he had to give it everything he had. He successfully stuck on Girard's door for the entirety of the course, drifting his way to the top spot of the podium.

The next DMCC event will take place on September 5th at St Eustache in Montreal, Quebec.
