After a few hot and cold cycles, Mishimoto recommends checking the sight glass on the side of the expansion tank to confirm proper coolant level. The passenger side radiator duct must be slightly trimmed so that it does not interfere with the new transmission lines. This is easy to perform and the OEM part (16593-AK010) is readily available if reverting to stock. For the best performance from your Mishimoto intake, we recommend cleaning and re-oiling your oiled air filter every 10,000β15,000 miles during normal driving. If you frequently drive in dusty or off-road conditions, inspect the filter more often and service it whenever it appears dry or heavily coated with debris. Filter re-oil is not included in Lifetime Warranty. Not compatible with manual transmission models. |

Designed for quiet operation and everyday reliability, the factory system restricts airflow, softens induction sound, and dulls throttle response. The Mishimoto Performance Air Intake addresses these limitations, providing a direct-fit, bolt-on upgrade that enhances power, improves engine tone, and refines the engine bayβs appearance, all without compromising reliability or requiring a custom tune.
Development started with a detailed analysis of the OEM system, which includes a corrugated rubber intake tube, a panel filter housed in a closed airbox, and ducting that draws air from under the hood. While functional, this design introduces airflow turbulence, limits the filterβs effective surface area, and exposes intake air to engine bay heat. Upgrading a transmission cooler on a 2024+ Toyota Tacoma might not be the first modification off-roaders think of, but for anyone towing trailers, tackling rugged trails, or running their truck hard, heat is the silent threat that can compromise performance and reliability. Automatic transmissions generate a lot of heat under stress, and while the stock liquid-to-liquid coolers in the Tacomaβs radiator and fan shroud do a reasonable job, they have their limits when the load increases or conditions become extreme. Thatβs where a dedicated, high-capacity transmission cooler comes in, offering a way to manage temperatures more effectively and reduce stress on the truckβs entire cooling system.

Turbocharged setups offer increased torque and efficiency, but higher intake air temperatures can reduce performance consistency during sustained load conditions such as towing, off-roading, or repeated high-RPM operation. The Performance Intercooler Kit for the 2024+ Tacoma is designed to address these challenges through improved cooling efficiency, optimized airflow, and precise fitment within the tightly packaged engine bay.
Our engineers began the development process by evaluating the stock intercooler, which already demonstrated during single-run dyno testing. However, extended high-load operation revealed rising charge air temperatures and increased pressure drop, creating additional stress on the turbocharger. Like most stock units, itβs made from plasticβa material that works well enough under normal conditions but can show its limits over long-term use. Off-roading, heat cycles, and time itself will eventually take their toll. Thatβs where our latest upgrade comes in.
