DRIVER INTERVIEW

Why do you race? I just like going fast.

What do you think of your racing career? I think it's off to a good start...

What does the start of your day entail? Hitting the snooze button too many times.

How much time do you dedicate to practice between events? We try and make it out for a team practice about every two weeks.

What do you do to stay in shape during the season? I try and go to the gym for an hour at least 3 times a week.

Where do you practice when at home? Stratotech Park in Edmonton is our hometown track. Kind of like our own Ebisu.

Any funny road trip stories from your career? We did a drift demo in Vancouver back in 2008, and afterwards we all went out to party. This homeless guy with a guitar came up to us asking for change in exchange for a song. I told him I’d pay him $20 if he could play something by Iron Maiden. He smiled… started playing an acoustic version of Number of the Beast! Awesome! He was so happy to play for us, that he followed us around from bar to bar for the rest of the night playing Iron Maiden songs for us on his guitar… it was rad!

Who do you look up to in your sport and why? I got into drifting by watching Option video’s back in the day. I liked watching Kawabata, Kumakubo and Suenaga drive. Kumakubo is always doing something cool. His chase battles are always door to door! I remember one event at Ebisu when he showed up on the back of a truck in a lions cage! To me that’s what drifting is all about, having fun, and driving hard.

Is there any other sport you actively participate in? I was kickboxing four times a week until last year when I messed up my ankle. I’ll probably start up again after this race season.

Are there any sponsors or specific people out there you would like to thank for helping you get to the races? When I started competing, Mishimoto was my first real sponsor. They’ve been great to deal with! They always ship products quickly, help promote our team, and sell good quality stuff. I’m happy to have their support. Another one is Yokohama, our team title sponsor. They’ve really given me a lot of opportunities in Canada. They really support drifting in Canada which is awesome, and I couldn’t be happier with their S.drive tires!!

What would be on the plate of your last meal ever? Philly cheese steak sammich [sic] with poutine and gravy.

Favorite video game? Favorite game of all time would have to be Super Mario Kart.

Your biggest pet peeve(s)? People who say “Addicting” rather than “Addictive”.

What celebrity would you most like to be your wife and why? Rachel McAdams (from Sherlock Holmes). She’s hot. …and Canadian.

What music do you listen to? Everything …Depends on my mood.

If you could pick one song to describe your life, what would it be? Let There Be Rock - AC/DC.

One item you never leave the house without. Pants.

Favorite sports team? Edmonton Oilers (although they’ve been sucking lately!).

What’s one thing you loved as a child but hate as an adult? Ice Cream. Weird huh?

What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time? I like to hang out on my deck with friends, drink and barbeque.
