DRIVER INTERVIEWWhy do you race? I guess I just love the rush, there's some feeling I get from drifting that I don’t get anywhere else. I also love competing; winning is fun too!!
What do you think of your racing career? I think I’m just getting started in my racing career, I’ve been doing pro drifting in Canada for 4 years now and this is my first year in Formula Drift. I feel I still have lots to learn and so much more to accomplish.
What does the start of your day entail? Usually I hit the snooze button 3 or 4 times then leap out of bed and rush to work!
How much time do you dedicate to practice between events? Not as much as I’d like to. Drifting in 2 pro series in North America takes a lot of time, also I don’t like beating on my race car on practice days because it just adds wear and tear on the car. I’m probably going to build a “missile car” for next season to do some practice in.
What do you do to stay in shape during the season? Sometimes I’ll ride my BMX, but mostly just drink beer, haha!
Where do you practice when at home? Shannonville Raceway is where I’ve done most of my practicing, not many tracks around my area allow or understand drifting, I hope that will change one day…
Any funny road trip stories from your career? Well it's not really funny but I do have one regret. We were at a gas station on the way to Cali last year for the Pro-Am Nationals, and I saw a bacon double cheese burger hotdog on the rollers in the store, I’d never seen that before! I didn’t buy it because I figured we would get one at another stop along the way, but to this day, I have never seen another bacon double cheese burger hotdog…
Who do you look up to in your sport and why? Chris Forsberg. The way he has made his drifting career, where he is at now, the way he drives, his attitude, it's very cool and I have a lot of respect for him.
Is there any other sport you actively participate in? Not really.
Are there any sponsors or specific people out there you would like to thank for helping you get to the races? Mishimoto, HSD Suspension, JRPonline.com, Falken Tires, Ferrea Racing Components, Genius Tools, Visual Sugar, u2unedyno.com. All the amazing people that come and help me and support me: Dan, Mark, Jover, Curt, Lil Brad, Amy, my girlfriend Amanda, my mom, dad, and grandparents.
If you were trapped on a deserted island and could only bring one movie and one CD, what would they be? DieHard 3 and the Smashing Pumpkins' "Gish".
What would be on the plate of your last meal ever? Steak!
Favorite video game? All of the Dirt games!
Your biggest pet peeve(s)? When someone starts a sentence with, “You know what you should do...”
What celebrity would you most like to be your wife and why? This question is kinda silly, I really don’t know…
What music do you listen to? Anything that sounds cool, I'm down with it.
If you could pick one song to describe your life, what would it be? 50 Cent – Hate It Or Love It
One item you never leave the house without. Keys.
Favorite sports team? Don’t have one.
What’s one thing you loved as a child but hate as an adult? This ones got me stumped… I liked 3 star rims on cars back in the day, now they just look horrible, haha!
What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time? Just relax with friends around a fire and drink beer!
