Product Description
This kit fits all two-liter 2016 Camaros and will provide dyno proven performance gains of 18 hp and 22 ft-lbs of torque. We also improved pressure drop by 21%, giving you increased airflow over stock. The airbox is made of steel and powder-coated black to help fight air intake temperatures, while our MAF housing is made of a glass-reinforced, plastic-injected mold with a built-in air straightener. The intake elbow is made of a five-ply silicone with steel wire reinforcement to prevent misshaping under vacuum and keep the engine heat at bay.
The silicone design is an improvement over the bulky plastic intake elbow, replacing the stock sound suppression chamber attached to the turbo and giving you smoother airflow throughout. We performed hundreds of miles of road testing to ensure the safety of running it on a completely stock motor, so no tune is required!

It certainly has been no picnic to get to this point. However, working on this unique, factory-turbocharged application from Chevy has brought to light the importance of the type of testing we do for our intake projects. We've gone through many configurations, spent countless design hours and logged hundreds of miles of road testing. This isn't overkill at Mishimoto, we deem it a necessity.
The amount of time that passed by was no mistake. We spared no R&D expense with this kit. Being as thorough as possible with every aspect of how it looked and the type of performance it delivered was a priority. The research and development process can get tricky. Sometimes, at a moment when you think you have a perfectly working product, that's ready for the masses; something just goes awry. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. We welcome situations like this, especially during this late in the development stage, because we're able to catch unexpected issues early. It's not like we want you to deal with them. That's why we do so much testing. As the definition states, this work needs to be directed, in part, toward the improvement of products and processes. We take this attitude with each and every design that leaves our R&D facility for production. The team developing this intake for our 2016 Chevy Camaro 2.0T or what I call "The TurboChevy" has been buzzing with activity. In the last post, we discussed the stock intake and analyzed each component to get a good understanding of its design. There were several ways our engineers could have created an intake for this system, and we tried and tested a few of those designs, which yielded some interesting results.
If you followed our 2016+ Camaro SS intake development, you'd see that we went through multiple designs to achieve the desirable. In some ways this project is similar; let's walk through what we found!

Chevy really decided to make history with this brand-new Camaro. It has the smallest motor ever offered in a Camaro and also marks the first Camaro with a four-cylinder power-plant since the third generation. This is also the first time any Camaro has been offered with a factory-installed turbocharger. To put that in perspective, the last time any Chevy even offered a factory-turbocharged, rear wheel drive vehicle with a manual transmission was back in the 1960's with the Corvair! My parents weren't even out of grade school yet!
This 2.0L turbocharged LTG Ecotec motor puts out a factory-rated 275hp with 295ft-lbs of torque at the crank. If you haven't already, see below for a quick clip of the stock dyno pulls we made on this car to see what numbers we were able to get!
