Oil is the lifeblood of an engine, and in a hardworking diesel engine like the 2008-2010 6.4L Powerstroke, keeping that oil cool is essential to the engine's health and running.
The stock 2008-2010 Powerstroke liquid-to-liquid oil cooler uses engine coolant to draw heat away from the oil and vent it through the engine radiator. It's a stout design that typically performs well for daily driven trucks. However, after over 10 years of service, many of those stock coolers have seen better days.

Many oil cooler failures are caused by clogged coolant passages. These clogs prevent heat transfer between the oil and coolant. Mishimoto recommends flushing the vehicle's coolant when replacing the oil cooler and installing a coolant filter kit to prevent future clogging.
