Any EcoBoost is synonymous with power potential. Sure, these Broncos roll off of the assembly line with plenty of grunt, but we enthusiasts always want more. The hidden vault of speedy goodness is simple to find, but breaking in can turn into quite the heist without the right tools. Luckily, our engineering team has been hard at work crafting the proper implements to keep charged air temperatures low and give these wild horses a longer stride.
Our design has come a long way since the sheet metal frame and 3D printed end tanks and has appropriately filled out its skeleton into its final form. The growth spurt started in the core with some much-needed core thickness and additional volume, ideal for giving either EcoBoost some extra pep in its step. The innards of this new core have also been updated to a much more robust bar-and-plate construction providing vastly improved durability over the OEM design.
To further this design's durability, the plastic end tanks have been replaced with cast aluminum TIG-welded to the core to eliminate any chance of boost pressure wandering away from the intercooling system. These new end tanks are also sculpted to provide smoother passage and reduced flow restriction to and from the core, which is optimal for Broncos sporting additional boost pressure.
Depending on your build, integrating this new design into the Bronco's intercooler system is as simple as swapping your inlet adaptors. Carved from billet aluminum, our intercooler comes complete with adaptors that sync up perfectly with Ford's quick-disconnect intercooler piping. However, these quick disconnects are one of the features we're specifically eliminating in our 2.3L and 2.7L intercooler piping kits, so Dan ensured to devise an interchangeable adaptor system that's compatible with all versions of the Bronco intercooler.
Breaking into any safe is quite the endeavor, even with the right set of tools. But why break in when you have the right key and combination? So make sure to keep an eye out for our next post as we discover just want treasures are hidden in the Bronco's vault.
