2015 Subaru STI: Vehicle Evaluation and Mishimoto Product Test Fitting

As you may be aware, our team recently had a 2015 Launch Edition STI in our shop so we could evaluate the vehicle, determine which of our current products fit properly, and begin designing a few new additions that would be specific to the 2015 model. Check out the video below featuring our Subaru expert, Jason. He discusses the changes that have been made with the new model and what Mishimoto components we were able to fit onto the vehicle.

Stay tuned for additional information regarding our upcoming products for the 2015 STI!

Now that we had our battery tie-down finalized, we could focus on the next component we wanted to tackle in the engine bay. Our next target would be the radiator stays, the small stamped steel pieces holding the radiator to the radiator support. We offer anodized aluminum radiator stays for a variety of vehicles including the previous generation WRX/STI, Honda Civic, and Ford Mustang.

For this particular project, we would be following a similar route. Our stays would be produced in aluminum and then anodized in a variety of colors to match an engine bay accent color. Before we get into the Mishimoto design, take a look at the stock components.

Time to design an intercooler! Our first step toward this goal was to remove the intercooler so we could collect all the data points we needed. All front-end components were then removed from the truck to provide access.

Once we had the factory intercooler out of the truck, we set it up on our CMM table to grab all the dimensions we needed. Using our Romer  arm, we can collect critical points in a controlled environment and use them in Solidworks to develop a prototype. Check out a shot of this intercooler being modeled!
