    First impressions, this cooler is massive compared to the factory unit. Our engineers weren't kidding when they mentioned that the size increase would be significant. You will notice two dimples on the intercooler outlet. They are predefined spots for injection systems such as methanol, or for a temperature/boost pressure sensor. These bungs are not predrilled, but they provide extra material thickness for those who wish to drill and tap the port. Pretty slick! You can also see from these images that our core is a solid bar-and-plate design. Now, let's compare the core thickness of the factory intercooler to the Mishimoto unit.

    We are nearing the end of this build. As mentioned in the last post, we wanted to put our core to the test and provide some cooling efficiency data that our customers could use. We decided to modify our 2010 STi to add some heat and power to the CAC system for testing. Information regarding our vehicle is listed below.

    As we mentioned on the forums, we have been aggressively searching for a 2015 Ecoboost Mustang for product development! We are pleased to announce that our purchase has been made, and we are expecting our 2015 Mustang to arrive on Friday the 10th.

    Our team is extremely excited to get this car into the shop and begin tearing it down to develop a performance radiator, intercooler, oil cooler kit, etc.

    Before stripping our 2015 Mustang, we will be collecting a ton of images and video to provide our first impressions of the new model. This includes information regarding the 2015 Ford Mustang chassis, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, interior, and of course the 2.3L EcoBoost. This is the first time the Mustang has been equipped with a turbo-four since the mid-eighties, and we have a team full of automotive geeks itching for a drive in the new model.

    Additionally, within the first few days of ownership we will be throwing the 2015 Mustang up on our Dynojet

    Product Introduction

    The LML Duramax is the cleanest and most powerful Duramax thus far. The innovations made for this new model are quite substantial and are a direct result of serious advances in automotive technology. Unfortunately, stricter emissions standards of today result in the inclusion of a DPF (diesel particulate filter) system, which improves emissions yet hampers fuel mileage.

    Luckily, not all the innovations for newer Durmax models are in place to provide cleaner air; several features of the new engine are in place for improved performance and reliability. Among the long list of improvements, a few highlights include a quick-spooling VGT turbocharger, a factory-equipped exhaust brake, upgraded designs of the main bearing and engine block, upgraded oil pump and circuit for improved flow/pressure, and of course the use of an

    Now that we had our project objectives outlined, we could bring in a vehicle to begin the first stage of product development. After checking with our local contacts, we were able to locate the 2010 6.7L you see below!

    A big thank you to the owner of this truck! Take a look under the hood. This truck was equipped with some basic bolt-on modifications.

    Once the truck was in our shop, we set to work removing the factory radiator. Our goal was to capture all critical dimensions on the radiator so we could use these data points to design our radiator. Additionally, we would be taking measurements on the vehicle to ensure any enlargements we made would not interfere with components on the truck. Check out a few images of the factory radiator

    Being pleased with our design in comparison to the stock unit, it was time to put this radiator to the test and see how the improvements would impact cooling efficiency. The first true test for this radiator would be fitment. Although this product was designed based off of dimensions from the stock radiator and the engine bay of an E36 M, we still had yet to drop this unit into a vehicle to ensure that all components bolted into position properly. We snagged the keys to our test vehicle from our videographer and easily dropped our prototype into place. Check out a few shots of this radiator installed!

    As you can see, everything fit perfectly with this radiator. This vehicle is still utilizing the stock mechanical fan and everything clears as it should

    Mishimoto Subaru WRX Oil Cooler Kit

    It was now time to test our components and ensure that they were operating to our standards. Our previous testing showed that oil warmup was rapid enough for use on a daily driven vehicle. Next we had to confirm that temperature improvements compared to the stock cooler setup were efficient.

    We used a similar testing practice with the previous version of this kit, which includes the procedures and conditions listed below.

    Testing Conditions

    • Ambient Temperatures: 70Β°F-75Β°F
    • Driving Conditions: 6 miles of highway driving at 60 mph
    • Sensors: PLX temperature sensor reading 10 times per second

    Setups Tested

    1. Completely stock oil cooler setup
    2. Mishimoto non-thermostatic oil cooler in conjunction with stock oil cooler
    3. Mishimoto thermostatic oil cooler alone

    Once the engine bay was evaluated, we began to fabricate piping. Our goal was to route these pipes in the cleanest possible fashion while keeping the route as short as possible. First, the upper portion of the pipes were mocked up and tacked together.

    Special attention was given to clearances between the intercooler pipes and the engine/engine bay components to ensure nothing would be rubbing or vibrating during operation.
