Subaru STi Baffled Oil Catch Can System
After completing the fabrication of our brackets for this kit and assembling the STI-specific lines, it was time to tackle the WRX. As you may be aware, the stock CCV lines are slightly different on the WRX, which necessitates a separate set of WRX-specific catch can lines.
The Test Subject
After reaching out to local contacts, we found a willing vehicle donor just one state away. We have borrowed this particular vehicle on several occasions for a variety of test fittings. A big “thank you” to the owner for lending his vehicle and his time for the sake of awesome new product development!

WRX Hose Fabrication
Time to construct our silicone lines for the WRX-specific kit. We mounted our catch can brackets and installed both a 2-port (PCV) and 3-port (CCV/breather) catch can.
The PCV catch can (passenger side) splices between the block-mounted PCV valve and the intake manifold. Any air moving through this line will pass through our catch can and return to the manifold free of oil and fuel contaminants. The CCV/breather line on the driver’s side of the engine bay routes from the breather lines near the intercooler, to the catch can, and then returns to the turbocharger inlet tube.
Although the WRX and STI kit will share two lines, four lines will differ in both length and bends due to differences in the intercooler/manifold setup between the STI and WRX of this generation.
