  1. Don't Worry Baby - Catch Can R&D, Part 3: Drilling In and Striking Oil

Don't Worry Baby - Catch Can R&D, Part 3: Drilling In and Striking Oil

Good afternoon, Camaro 2.0T and Cadillac ATS owners, and welcome to the latest R&D post for our 2013+ Cadillac ATS and 2016+ Camaro 2.0T catch can kit. For a recap on why you might want to remove blow-by from your engine, check out our technical article ALL about the nasty stuff. We've got some pretty awesome developments to share, but first let me begin by"

    Setting the Scene

Imagine, for a moment, the warm hue of soft, August light, gently bathing the wooded pastures of northwestern Pennsylvania in a quilt of contrasting gold. The sun lingers low in the late-afternoon sky and casts heat over the valleys, but the breeze brings with it a subtle bite; a subdued, but confident nod to autumn's imminent arrival.

For most, this weather typically imparts an assured sense of calm as the summer comes to a close, but it is unlikely that the weather in 1858 had any such impact on an unemployed railway worker named Edwin Drake.

Ill and having lost both wife and child, Drake found himself living hopelessly

Help Me Ronda, Help Me Get 'er Outta My Intake - Catch Can R&D, Part 2: Testing for Blow-by

Last time, in the first Camaro 2.0T catch can R&D post, we learned a little bit about blow-by, the CCV system, and how a catch can serves to prolong the life of your Camaro. If you need a refresher, we have a technical article all about why blow-by is terrible for your engine. We left off with Steve setting up his testing rig, but I want to go into a bit more detail on what exactly we wanted to test.

    Test Prep

As we discovered in the first post, the OEM system appears to have three different CCV valves. On further investigation, we found that these three valves comprise two separate systems. One system features two CCV valves on the valve cover that connect at a T-joint and run to the intake. The other system connects the remaining CCV valve on the timing cover to the inlet side of the turbo.

In order to determine exactly how these systems operate, the important thing to understand is when they respectively

  3. Auxiliary Rads Forever - Auxiliary Radiator R&D, Part 2: 3D Models

Auxiliary Rads Forever - Auxiliary Radiator R&D, Part 2: 3D Models

2016+ Camaro Auxiliary Radiator Dicsounted Pre-Sale has begun!

For as long as there have been stories, there have been heroes. Likewise, almost every hero has a sidekick (if he's lucky, at least). This concept spans a breadth of traditional mediums and relationships: George had Lenny, Aladdin had Abu, Jak had Daxter, and the Fresh Prince had Jazzy Jeff. I think we can all agree that the 2016+ Camaro SS is the hero in this story, but in this chapter, our hero is the cooling system, and it just got one step closer to having TWO awesome sidekicks (What a concept!  If only Caesar had one good sidekick to talk some sense into Brutus!)  Of course, I'm talking about Mishimoto's 2016+ Camaro SS Auxiliary Radiators. If you aren't familiar with the Camaro's unique cooling system, you can learn all about it in our first auxiliary Camaro radiator post.

Tell Her About Them - Exhaust R&D, Part 3: Axleback Options

Our Mishimoto chefs have been very busy in our R&D kitchen, cooking up some wonderful 2016 Camaro exhaust prototypes with our 3D-modeling CAD software. Using nothing short of the finest ingredients, they have created a suite of 2016 Camaro SS exhaust options that are so delicious, Guy Fieri's mouth would surely be watering at the sight - though I'm sure he'd be even more tantalized if these were compatible with the first-gen Camaro!

    Jiro Dreams of Mishi

We have decided to release five different 2016 Camaro exhaust systems, and we think they should satisfy just about anyone with an SS and a hunger for some killer sound. As we determined the crimped section upstream of the axle-back does not have an impact on power output, but it does make the system sound more refined. We will be retaining that section for sound and OEM functionality, but our axle-backs will replace the stock piping beginning just in front of the second hanger from the rear. The stock 2016 Camaro exhaust must be cut in order

  5. She's My Turbo Lover - Mishimoto's New 2016 Camaro 2.0T Engineering Vehicle

    She's My Turbo Lover - Mishimoto's New 2016 Camaro 2.0T Engineering Vehicle

One of the best parts about a small, dynamic company like Mishimoto is that there is never a dull moment around our R&D facility. Change happens frequently, and no two days are the same. At any given time, we've got a solid fleet of engineering vehicles at our disposal that serve as development platforms for our exciting new products, and over time, we become intimately acquainted with each vehicle's characteristics and quirks; each develops a personality and earns its own place on the Mishimoto team. This makes it tough to see them go, but it is always exciting to welcome on a new team member.

This week, it was time for our 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost to move on to bigger and better things. We had the car around for a decent amount of time and grew quite fond of it, but our engineers could never quite relax in its presence, particularly when they were gathered in large crowds for meetings.

However, the circle of life has done its thing and presented us with our latest team member, and I
