It certainly has been no picnic to get to this point. However, working on this unique, factory-turbocharged application from Chevy has brought to light the importance of the type of testing we do for our intake projects. We've gone through many configurations, spent countless design hours and logged hundreds of miles of road testing. This isn't overkill at Mishimoto, we deem it a necessity.

The amount of time that passed by was no mistake. We spared no R&D expense with this kit. Being as thorough as possible with every aspect of how it looked and the type of performance it delivered was a priority. In the last update, we went through why we encountered a few hiccups during testing, but we took our time in working through

    A Car for Drivers

There are 7 billion people on Earth driving over 1 billion cars. Some of those cars were made for people who spend their Saturdays shopping for houseplants and whose idea of speed is doing 45mph in a 40mph zone. Some of them were made for the passengers of the world, whose perfect car is a silent butler. Then there are the cars made for the select few. For those with fuel in their veins and tire smoke in their lungs. For drivers.

The fifth-generation Chevy Camaro SS is certainly a driver's car. With a 6.2L V8 capable of 426 horsepower, independent rear suspension, and launch control, the Camaro is not your average run-around. It's raced in touring car championships, NASCAR, and even Formula Drift (piloted by none other than Mishimoto-sponsored driver Ryan Tuerck). The SS's bigger brother, the ZL1, clocked a 7-minute, 41-second Nürburgring lap, keeping pace with Lamborghini, Porsche, and Mercedes. But

I Am the Aux Rad - Auxiliary Radiator R&D, Part 4: Decision, Test, and Pre-Sale

Welcome to a very special update on one of the more unique Camaro parts we've got in our R&D arsenal: The Mishimoto 2016+ Camaro Auxiliary Radiators. If you're just joining us now, learn all about the stock auxiliary Camaro radiator in our first post.

Last time, we discussed two possible design options for these heat exchangers, but now I've got the word on our final decision. I'll explain in detail the efforts and testing methodology we employed to come to our decision, but first, let me make an announcement:

2016+ Camaro Auxiliary Radiator Pre-Sale has begun!

Also, the Mishimoto 2016 Camaro Auxiliary Radiators have been confirmed to fit the 2.0T with the HD cooling and brake package!

"The TurboChevy" - Intake R&D, Part 2: Weighing Our Options

The team developing this intake for our 2016 Chevy Camaro 2.0T or what I call "The TurboChevy" has been buzzing with activity. In the last post, we discussed the stock intake and analyzed each component to get a good understanding of its design. There were several ways our engineers could have created an intake for this system, and we tried and tested a few of those designs, which yielded some interesting results.

If you followed our 2016+ Camaro SS intake development, you'd see that we went through multiple designs to achieve the desirable.  In some ways this project is similar; let's walk through what we found!

    Mishimoto's 2016 Camaro SS Oil Cooler Pre-Sale

As the summer drags unremittingly further into the humid, heavy annals of August, it continues to push our air conditioners to the very cusp of their abilities, and I can't help but to dream of cooler weather. I will certainly miss the summer, but a break from the hellish bake of these past few weeks will certainly be welcomed.

It's pretty safe to say there's not a whole lot that your Camaro likes about this weather. The joy of being on the road notwithstanding, this persistent heat does not otherwise make your car very happy. However, we want your Camaro to enjoy what's left of summer; that's why we have recently released a Mishimoto 2016 Camaro

    She's My Turbo Lover - Mishimoto's New 2016 Camaro 2.0T Engineering Vehicle

One of the best parts about a small, dynamic company like Mishimoto is that there is never a dull moment around our R&D facility. Change happens frequently, and no two days are the same. At any given time, we've got a solid fleet of engineering vehicles at our disposal that serve as development platforms for our exciting new products, and over time, we become intimately acquainted with each vehicle's characteristics and quirks; each develops a personality and earns its own place on the Mishimoto team. This makes it tough to see them go, but it is always exciting to welcome on a new team member.

This week, it was time for our 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost to move on to bigger and better things. We had the car around for a decent amount of time and grew quite fond of it, but our engineers could never quite relax in its presence, particularly when they were gathered in large crowds for meetings.

    However, the circle

Cooling the Camaro - Radiator R&D, Part 2: 3D Models

Greetings everyone! I hope you all enjoyed Cinco de Mayo last week. We celebrated here at the Mishimoto R&D Center with a salsa and dip competition - let me tell you, many of our team members have just as much talent in the kitchen as they do in the design center (and those of us who don't were grateful taste testers).

Though our schedules have been VERY busy with projects, the beginning of show season, and maybe a few siestas here and there (definitely a necessity after all those corn chips!), our engineers have been able to squeeze in some time designing our improved aluminum 2016 Camaro SS radiator. I am here to show you the fruits of their labors! Let's take a peek at what they created.

With a Little Help from My Aux Rads - Auxiliary Radiator R&D, Part 1: Stock Review

2016+ Camaro Auxiliary Radiator Discounted Pre-Sale has begun!

As I'm sure many of you know, we strive for transparency here at Mishimoto, and we love sharing our development process with all of you. There are many benefits to this, and hearing your feedback ranks highly among them. That said, our search for inspiration is wide-reaching and multidisciplinary. Just recently, I happened upon an interview with Noam Chomsky, renowned thinker and MIT professor, who is quoted as saying: "I like the cold weather. It means you get more work done".

I think Chomsky missed his calling in the automotive parts industry, because his sentiment is very much in line with how we feel about coolant temperatures in your 2016 Camaro SS. To that end, I'm sure he would be thrilled to learn that we have begun development on a brand new set of Camaro auxiliary radiators!

  9. The Dyno Results - Camaro SS Intake, Part 3

The Dyno Results - Camaro SS Intake, Part 3

We have undertaken an intriguing project. The stock intake design for this 2016 Camaro SS is quite unique and working to increase performance has been a challenge, but here at Mishimoto, we welcome challenges! In the previous post, we went through the different iterations our Engineering Team had created, and we designed a prototype for testing. More testing was needed, however, before we could achieve the level of performance we wanted from this design. We will go through a detailed analysis of our final numbers for this Camaro cold-air intake project.

Prototype Development - Camaro SS Intake, Part 2

Last time we left you with a detailed breakdown of the massive stock intake system of the 2016 Chevy Camaro. Designing a prototype that will keep this big V8 happy has been quite a task, but our awesome engineering team has come up with a unique design for a prototype. Let's start by taking a look at our components.

    Mass Airflow Sensor Housing

The stock mass airflow (MAF) sensor is sandwiched inside an air straightener. This straightener differs from others because it doesn't take up the entire length of the tube. Instead, it's pretty much only as long as the length of the sensor. Based on this, we decided to take that element of Chevy's design and incorporate it into our housing piece.
